Guilty Pleasures
Guilty pleasures can be animal, vegetable or mineral and run the gamut of laughable to tawdry and locked up away in a box; you may have one for each point on the spectrum or only a handful.
When do you release this knowledge to someone else? does it depend on you, or them? when you give away that knowledge, do you act as if it as a grant from Ye Old Charity Trust or a hit and run focused on your local charity shop (here, take this and i hope it helps the starving blind puppies in Moldova!).
There is a moment of vulnerability when you put this information on the table, open yourself up for judgement from the other person in the dialogue without any speedbumps between your and their eyes; you will know right away as sound travels that fast and somehow comprehension keeps up with it. There is a rush, and a slight ego boost when you disclose, Actually, i really think Kevin Sorbo is hot; and Vin Diesel too. Suprise, amusement, appreciation, acceptance. sigh. we think alike, or at least respect the emotion. the universe has expanded and contracted without rupture.
Top Ten Guilty Pleasures, including but not limited to:
1. CSI Vegas and a crush on each guy in the show. really.
2. Smoking when i drink (this is decreasing though).
3. Ministry of Sound dance music comps
4. Star Trek NG and my ensuing crush on Patrick Stewart who i have celebrity sighted and been really close to in the Groucho more than once (thanks ex beaux)
5. Kevin and Vin as mentioned above
6. A crush on Jennifer Garner
7. A hatrid of Ben Affleck
8. the show Xena Warrior Princess
9. Creating alternate personas to tell people who i am, when i drink, like Starbuck barrista, stripper, makeup salesgirl
10. always making food in the kitchen when i come home smashed
11. listening to classical music and nature sound meditation music
(NB this obviously doesn't disclose my sordid spectrum)

Happy Thanksgiving!
Does anybody actually like Ben Affleck?
I actually like him a lot. He's kind of a mess, but still lovable. :)
I made pumpkin pie all by myself yesterday. From a can, but still... I actually had some for breakfast this morning - soooooo good.
D.
I know this may sound completely retarded (I'm British, not that the two necessarily go together) but what is Thanksgiving exactly? Whenever I hear about it, it just sounds like a massive eating-fest.Which is fine by me, the pumpkin pie sounds delicious.
But what are you giving thanks for?
There are loads of versions about Thanksgiving and what it really stands for, some say it's to give thanks to the natives who helped the original Pilgrims survive their first winter. Another is that it is traditionally a Canadian holiday, and was to offer thanks for the harvest.
There is no method to the date, except I think the Americans who always celebrate it on the 25th, the Canadians on the second Monday in October.
Pumpkin pie is indeed fabulous and is very much an excuse to eat yourself silly for days!
Cheers, I do like the idea of a Thanksgiving holiday, especially the eating part.
As for guilty pleasures, I would say watching football/soccer matches and fancying the players with the best bums but then imagining actually having a conversation with them and it all seems quite tragic.
Certain men should never be allowed to open their mouths!
Thanksgiving is a secular holiday celebrating the "thankfulness" of one of the USA's first settlors (white of course), the Pilgrims, who were Christians that were persecuted in Britain. As some of the comments have alluded, if you really scratch this holiday on the surface, its easy to slide into hypocrite mud. But at the end of the day it is a Autumn bank holiday where the tradition is for family to gather and eat turkey, pumpkin pie and regional foods. But it is on the last thursday of the month, not necessarily the 25th. I had a friend over from the US for the weekend. we made and ate whole pie too, and it was scrummy! Then i had a party yesterday, and one today. i am thankful for the gym at this point.
D, how can you love The Fleckster? no me gusta.
